Chinese Tibetan Ming Dynasty gilt bronze Buddha figure of Gautama, the Prince (5th Century B.C.) is the royal prince who became the Buddha Shakyamuni and the founder of Buddhism. Cast in serene appearance, naturally painted eyes gaze forward slightly closed nestled under two eyebrows, with the face slightly smiling. The unbound dark hair is piled upward with some falling loose across the shoulders. The two hands rest on knees. Dressed in elongated robes and bare feet. The neck and youthful breast are covered with various Chaozhu necklaces, chokers and silk robe cover the leg with necklaces. Set upon a demountable rectangular solid hardwood pedestal. Seated on rectangular bench, in a relaxed royal posture with the legs folded, right foot over left. The thumb of the foot slightly touched a pile of ground hardwood, and set upon a demountable rectangular graded tall solid wooded pedestal. The proportions of the body are exact and the overall presence and beauty make this sculpture a precious artistic treasure. Extensive trace of gilt remain on surfaces, and blue pigment on hair.Height:17.38 inWidth: 7 in in
