Chinese Ming Dynasty Period, blue and red carps plate. The Porcelain potted in shallow vessel form, with broad wide central interior, rounded cavetto gently tapering to open wide, a slightly flared lip, and raised with round shallow draft. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the blue and red color. The center interior medallion and the outer rim adorned with swims carp in the pons interspersed with water plants and foliage. Each section banded and enclosed with double fine blue rings. The Carp Similar sounding to the word "Business" in Chinese, the carp symbolizes a wish for benefit or advantage in business, and accepted to represent longevity, wealth, abundance, and perseverance.
