黄山寿(1855-1919)原名曜，字旭初，别字旭道人，晚号旭迟老人，又号丽生，一志于书画，善画人物、山水、花卉、走兽，尤擅画墨龙。
凡写人物仕女，喜用工笔重彩，隽雅研秀，有改琦遗韵；他的人物画法，最早是源自于改七芗，后来自成一体，在题材上，走通俗路线，擅画“南极寿星”与“加官晋爵”之图，画面雅俗朴艳，兼而有之，喜气十足，仿者甚多。
黄山寿努力学古，专攻水墨渲淡，在笔墨设色上，恪遵古法，以淡雅为宗，绝无浓丽艳俗之病，笔法简练有力，造型气势开阔，气质高贵文雅，设色富丽明快，在华洋杂处的上海滩，广受一般市民的喜爱。
