铜局部漆金“刘海戏金蟾”典故出自道教，由传说的辟谷轻身的人物附会而成。题材一般系一蓬发少年以连钱为绳，戏钓金蟾构成。金蟾是一只三足青蛙，古时认为得之可致富。寓意财源兴旺，幸福美好。所以民间流传有“刘海戏金蟾步步得金钱”之说。 明清之际，“刘海戏金蟾”的画和雕件非常盛行。清初以来，更是常见于表示喜庆、吉祥的传统年画上，寓意发财、富贵，皆渊源于此。此件刘海戏金蟾香熏以铜雕造，金蟾三腿着地，腹部有孔，中空，与嘴部相连，双眼圆睁，两耳顺服贴于脑后。通体漆金的刘海左手支撑蟾背，右手抚膝，背上挂壶，表情喜乐的舒坐于金蟾背上。整件香熏雕造生动写实，动物与人物上下呼应，相得益彰。铜质经经年熏香及把玩，呈现出古意盎然的莹润光泽，为明清时期典型的案头摆件及把玩件。
