A pair of mid-20th Century Empire style white-painted and parcel gilt fauteuils, each with a panelled rosette and foliate carved top rail, the arms in the form of griffins, on square tapering legs terminating in paw feet, upholstered in faux leopard skin 97.50cm (38in) Provenance: Purchased at Christie's South Kensington, 13 September 2005 Literature: Robin Muir, "The Legacy of Angus", The World of Interiors, September 2005. The original Empire model of this pair of chairs was sold by Angus McBean to David Nickerson of Mallets at Bourdon House in 1982
