许历农，生于1918年，安徽贵池（今池州）人。早年毕业于陆军官校十六期、陆军参大正一、三军联大正十二、政战学校政战班十四、三军大学战院将官班六十三年春班、后任排、连、营、团长、参谋长、师长、教育长、军长、校长、司令、司令官。历任陆军官校校长、总政治作战部主任、行政院国军退除役官兵辅导委员会主任委员、统一委员会（国统会）副主任委员，陆军二级上将。近年来致力于两岸和解交流，担任促进国家统一的台湾新同盟会会长。2005年2月6日与林洋港、郝柏村重回国民党，获聘为国民党中评会主席团主席。
