陈白荷（1893～1980），名抗尘，亭林镇人。民国4年（1915年）毕业于上海龙门师范学校，翌年，在上海万竹小学任国文教员。平时常以业余时间研习国画，颇有心得。民国18年（1929年）由南洋模范中学聘为图画教师。于是专攻国画，善画山水、花鸟，尤以画荷见长，民国时期曾在上海多次举办画展，深得行家好评，其画清雅脱俗。白蕉曾评其所画荷花：“坚朴、厚大、清刚、静美，笔简而意工，气密而神完”，赵家鼎评曰：“用墨如秋云出岫，澄韵澹达，俨分五彩，结构高逸。无度而有度，一任自然，得画中三昧”。从而蜚声上海画坛。
