SignedEven though I've been turning professionally for over twenty years and have always been aware of Ray and his work I only had the opportunity to met him a couple of times. Once when he was demonstrating at a woodworking show in Edinburgh where he was incredibly busy dealing with and answering questions from the numerous turners around his stand. I also had the pleasure of exhibiting with him at the Wizardry in Wood show in the Carpenters Hall London in 2016. Here he was more relaxed and had time to chat, happily sharing his extensive knowledge and experience of the world of woodturning.I deliberated for weeks about what to do with the piece I had chosen as I was aware I only had one chance to get it right. I tried out several ideas, sketching in note pads and even drawing on the piece. In the end I chose to do just a simple hollow form with little extra work, just a couple of burnt lines to highlight the shape.The Ray Key Collaboration Auction
