Description

此像选上佳寿山石巧色制成，因材施刀，芙蓉石之鲜艳石理皆凿刻地恰到好处。慧可手持拂尘，抱膝而坐，光顶寿额，眉眼细长，作阖目微笑状。此像雕刻行刀流畅，衣纹飘逸极富动感，其上辅以细琢云龙纹与团花番莲纹饰，颇为华丽。背刻“子秀”款。慧可为禅宗二祖，断臂求法，刚毅能忍，成就佛道。子秀，传为明末清初寿山石雕名工，生平资料待考；苏富比、佳士得等拍卖公司均曾推出带有相同款字的作品，雕刻风格亦相近。北京故宫博物院亦藏有落子秀款的罗汉像。盖当时寿山石雕刻者众多，然除一二名工外，大部分人皆不署名款，以致湮没无闻；而能署名者，名高如杨玉璇，其实生平故事亦仅停留在传说的层面上。此或是寿山石雕艺术的历史遗憾。 款识：子秀
