(weighable silver)Provenance: Descended in the family of John Gilman D'Arcy Paul, Baltimore, Maryland.Notes: The various monograms and inscriptions on these pieces may nearly all be identified as belonging to John Gilman D'Arcy Paul (1887-1872) and his ancestors, including the fruit knife with his birthdate, the West Saxon Gospel of his mother, Charlotte Abbott Gilman Paul (1861-1864), the ladles of his father, D'Arcy Paul (1854-1890), and the "Jenny Lind" serving spade of his grandmother Elizabeth Weyl Gilman (1830-1889). The papers of the Gilman and Paul families are conserved at the Maryland Historical Society.
