Ca.500 BC. Amazing Etruscan cast-bronze vessel, the form of which known as an "olpe" , with a flat base supporting a piriform body. The vessels exhibit lightly-carinated midsections, a tapering neck, a funnel-from mouth surrounded by a thick rim, and a high-arching handle with a petaloid lower terminal.The olpe is enveloped in fabulous layers of green, brown, and russet patina, and the original golden-brown bronze colour is visible in some abraded areas. Good Condition. H:256mm/W:170mm 10.17in, 6.69in; 1400 gr; Provenance: From an old British collection, acquired on the UK art market in the 1980s.
