Ca.300 AD. A beautiful, elegant example of Roman pottery. The vessel presents a teardrop-shaped body with a series of applied geometric lines running around its body. It stands on a small, round, slightly flared foot, and has a flared rim with a wide lip. This type of pottery is known as African Terra Sigillata, referring to the method used to seal the red slip onto the pottery during the kilning process. It was mould made and would have been traded throughout the Roman Empire. Good Condition; Intact; H:180mm/D:135mm (7.08in, 5.31in); 260gr; Provenance: From an old British collection, acquired on the UK art market in the 1980s. All Items sold by Pax Romana Auctions come with professional Certificate of Authenticity.
