Antique Chinese Jar, with carp habitat motif. Sturdy porcelain jar with robust shoulder region curving into a feminine waist that extends all the way to the bottom forming the raised circular base. The exterior masterfully covered in an even coat of a delicate white underglaze. The exterior is encapsulated in cobalt-blue water-lily, seagrass, and other marine flora; Which makes up the carps natural habitat. The carp is accepted to represent longevity, wealth, abundance, and perseverance. Several Cranes Line the upper shoulder region soaring amidst cumulus cloud form. A band of wild horses gallop around the bottom rim. Cranes are known to resemble both longevity and wisdom. The horse is known in ancient times to symbolize perseverance, speed, power, and strength. The immaculate porcelain body covered with a characteristic silky glaze. The glaze terminating slightly about the foot base, revealed the creme-grayish ground and unglazed under base with dark-brown and black firing marks from kiln process. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous craftsman.
