本品段取老竹一段，上下镶红木圈口及三足底座，以为笔筒之用。外壁以铲地浮雕技法，一面雕高士对弈图，其一胸有成竹，侧身而坐，神态怡然自得，其一以手扶膝，蹙眉凝思，人物神态动态刻画惟妙惟肖。另一面雕“青山不厌三杯酒 长日惟消一局棋”句，并落款“己丑仲夏之望，云亭严煜”，并钤刻“敬安”方章款。严煜，字敬安，号云亭，江苏嘉定人。活跃于乾隆嘉庆年间，刻竹师从周芷岩，得不传之秘。工画山水、花鸟，尤精于金石六书，治印亦苍古有法。现上海博物馆，香港艺术馆均藏有其作品。
