杯以竹根精雕而成，将鹿翻转倒扣，则鹿的四蹄环绕成杯口，腹部为杯腹，鹿头与灵芝则为杯底。卧鹿以写实的手法雕琢，身形肥壮，四肢屈于腹下，昂首回眸作观望状；其双角俯贴项颈，长吻宽腮，口中衔有一株折枝灵芝，灵芝横陈于卧鹿流畅优美背脊之上，尽显苍劲老态，极为巧妙。足见艺人之匠心独运。尤见其包浆莹润，呈相熟旧，刻工精湛，为文豪案上珍玩。难以释手。参阅： 《竹器—嘉定竹刻海外遗珍》，上海科学技术出版社，2008年，页150，图34。
