Letter to New Jersey Congressman Matthew John Rinaldo, in full: "The copy of your letter of October 11 to the President has been received, and I am particularly grateful for your strong recommendation of me. It is heartwarming to me to be held in such high esteem by you. If confirmed, I pledge to you, as I pledged to the President, that I will do my utmost to fulfill the responsibilities of the Vice Presidency as effectively and efficiently as possible. With kindest personal regards and my deep appreciation of your supportÂnow and in the future." In fine condition. On October 10, 1973, Spiro Agnew resigned his position as Vice President and pleaded no contest to criminal charges of tax evasion and money laundering while he was governor of Maryland.
