江西瓷业公司成立于光绪末年，结束于1949年。准确的成立时间，文献记载不一，有光绪28年（1902年）、光绪33年（1907年）、宣统二年（1910年）等多个说法，后经野外考古，在遗址里出土“戊申江西瓷业公司试造”标本，证实江西瓷业公司烧造历史不晚于光绪34年（1908年）。
江西瓷业公司是在旧制御窑厂渐入困顿的情况下进行的一次官商合办的改革尝试，从此取代了御窑厂，成为当时中国瓷器生产的最高水准的代表，谓之清末民国官窑亦无不可。由于机制结构的改变，江西瓷业公司得以突破原来御窑厂的各类桎梏，革新工艺、烧造新品、拓宽题材，呈现新的生机和活力。
此对杯无论胎、釉、彩、绘都堪称上品，其纹饰有晚清大雅斋等瓷器的韵味，又有明显的新式风格，是江西瓷业公司精细作品的一个代表。
