清王朝定鼎中原后，历代帝王仍尊女真族尚武之传统，时时习武游猎。自康熙设宫廷造办处起，即有弓作、鞍甲作等作坊，专制剑甲武备。其产品既有实用者，亦有礼仪赏赐之器具。此宝剑剑体厚重，刃部雪亮银白，保存完好。剑格、剑柄及剑首皆为白玉所制，玉色乳白如脂，棕色沁痕古朴自然。各部件间包金装饰，錾珍珠地纹，并刻莲纹、回纹等装饰，视之灿目，衬出玉色之古雅。此剑剑鞘装饰繁密，其上鎏金嵌玉，分为两段。每段四角皆以金饰勾卷云，嵌绿松石回纹，正中金雕螭龙衔如意，刻工细致精巧。鞘首、中、尾嵌三块红沁白玉，上雕螭虎、卷云等纹饰，华彩缤纷间亦不失古朴雅致。装饰如此华丽之宝剑显非使用器具，应是皇室赏赐或王公贵族装饰之佩剑。
