此例玛瑙洗质料莹泽细密，气韵古朴。胎壁轻薄，器表抛光均匀细腻，天然纹理掩映其中，犹如水波涟漪般静雅，又好似层层云朵般自然飘逸。其造型乃仿唐代长杯，唐代长杯分为两式，一种源于萨珊金银器，杯体为多曲形（附图1）；另一种源于汉代耳杯，既不分瓣，亦不带耳。本品形制即源自后者。雍正帝慕古尚简，对此类造型器种的仿制亦见于本朝的仿汝釉椭圆洗（附图2）。台北故宫博物院多见此类玛瑙式杯，可参阅《清世宗文物大展》，国立故宫博物院，图II-63、64、70（附图3）。
