吴冠中1919年-2010年，先生是中国美术学院的学术旗帜，是继林风眠先生之后弘扬国美精神并形成一代业绩的艺术大师。他的艺术是林风眠先生等开创的中西融合道路上的一座高峰。吴冠中的艺术融通中西，是当代中国艺坛的奇观。在中国水墨绘画方面，吴先生力求时代出新；在油画等艺术形式上他戮力创造民族特色。这两方面他都走得很远，但在核心处却又秉持中国人特有的“诗意”和“象心”来相通。他在这些方面所表现出来的探索精神和优秀品质，是他留给我们这个时代最重要的艺术遗产。
