A Japanese Lacquer Bon (Robe Tray), of rounded rectangular form decorated with pines and a prunus tree on the hilly banks of a mountain stream, in gold and silver takamakie and hiramakie with details in kirigane, fundame and e-nashiji, all on a mura-nashiji ground, the exterior also in mura-nashiji with Ho-o birds in gold hiramakie, 55.8cm wide x 53.5cm high x 9cm deep, Mid to Late 19th Century Provenance: Purchased in Japan by Colonel W. R. Hodgson circa 1950-1951 and by descent.
