黄财神在象雄文中称为“占巴拉”，藏文叫做“诺拉”，翻译成汉文叫做“财神”。 他的色肤是黄色，故称为黄财神，是密教之护法神祇，诸财神之首,黄财神为 雍仲本教五色财神之一，五色财神分别是：白财神、黄财神、红财神、蓝财神、黑财神。此尊财神头带五叶宝冠，发髻高耸。面相方阔，眉头微蹙，大眼大鼻，这是西藏造像中常见的嗔怒相风格。袒胸露腹，腰系短裙，臂、手处皆饰钏镯，项及胸前各饰璎珞。右手持宝伞，左手握吐宝鼠，吐宝鼠是财富的象征，吐宝鼠越大，则预示着财富越多，古朴可爱。
