A large gilt brass mounted ebonised quarter chiming bracket clock, unsigned, late 19th century The substantial four pillar triple chain fusee movement chiming a choice of two melodies on a graduated nest of eight bells and sounding the hour on a gong, with anchor escapement regulated by a lenticular bob pendulum and foliate scroll engraved backplate, the 8 inch arched brass dial with matted centre within applied silvered Roman numeral chapter ring with fleur-de-lys half hour markers and Arabic five minutes to outer track, with pierced steel hands and foliate scroll cast gilt spandrels beneath arch incorporating subsidiary CHIME/SILENT and CHIME ON EIGHT BELLS/CAMBRIDGE CHIMES selection within conforming cast infill, the bell top case with flambeau urn finials and foliate swag cast mounts to superstructure over front with canted silvered fillet inset cast brass bevel-glazed hinged dial surround and winged cherub mask quadrant frets to upper margins, flanked by female caryatid mounts to the canted angles, the sides with generous foliate cast hinged carrying handles over sunburst decorated arched sound frets, the rear with brass grille inset rectangular door flanked by conforming caryatids, on generous cavetto moulded skirt base with scroll cast feet and foliate mount to apron, 70cm (27.5ins) high.
