A comprehensive selection of brass, ivory and steel draughtsman’s pens and compasses, various makers, first half of the 19th century and later Comprising approximately twenty-five with ivory handles including examples stamped ELLIOTT; W. HORWOOD; STANLEY; REEVES & SONS; GREGORY, 31 STRAND and A. NICHOLL & Co.; with approximately 35 brass-handled examples with around half of these being short compasses or ‘bows’ of the type often including in etui sets; contained in a blue velvet lined rosewood box fitted with two lift-out trays over a fixed tray, the box 20cm (8ins) wide, (qty). The vast majority of the items in the current lot would have originally been included as part of a draughtsman’s drawing instrument set hence the present selection may prove invaluable to a collector seeking to complete an incomplete set.
