|此件白玉卧羊摆件取整块玉料雕琢，白玉质地细腻致密，温润通透，器表包浆丰厚，色泽含蓄，呈现古朴庄重、典雅静谧之美。卧羊造型写实，雕刻精湛，打磨浑圆饱满。瑞羊四足跪卧，前足屈收，后足贴于体侧，羊角后卷，予人憨态可掬之感，流露温顺乖巧之姿。大处简练，小处精秀，神态刻画传神。|羊在中国传统文化中是非常吉祥的动物。《说文解字》说：“羊，祥也，”“吉祥”常常通假写作“吉羊”，汉瓦当中亦有“大吉羊”之字样。加之古人认为“美”与“善”皆与羊相关，因此，以羊作装饰多为寄托吉祥美好的愿望。羊是一种本性温顺的动物，小羊每次吃奶都是跪着，以感激母羊的哺乳之恩，是以《增广贤文》中就有“羊有跪乳之恩，鸦有反哺之义”的说法。
