Scarce 18th c. William & Mary child's slant lid desk. Pine with hardwood "onion" feet. Probably Boston Mass.. Early red over original black. Original hardware. Pine with pine and chestnut secondary. 23 3/4" x 13 1/2" x 27 1/2" Ht.. Museum collection marking stamp appears on interior upper drawer, one cubby drawer has museum number marked. Provenance: Bequethed to Historic Deerfield Museum, 1960, by Rowena Russel Potter (1880-1969), as part of Lucius D. Potter Collection. Potter was a prominent cutlery manufacturer, Greenfield Mass., whose family was from Deerfield. Deaccessioned from Historic Deerfield, 2017.
