Xie Jie (active late 19th century), Peonies and Chrysanthemums. Two album leaves, framed under glass, each 28,5 x 32,4 cm, ink and colors on paper. Each with signature by the artist: "Shunian Xie Jie". One seal of the artist: "Shunian". Xie Jie, style name Shunian, was a well known painter of flowers from Changzhou in Jiangsu province. His vivid and naturalistic depictions of flowers are mostly done without ink outlines in color only, following the style of the famous master of the early Qing dynasty, Yun Shouping (1633-1690) - Very minor traces of age.
