Posen German Silver Parcel Gilt Ladle: 800 coin silver ladle with pour spout on one end of bowl with gold wash. Marked 800 and Posen on back of neck. Handle decorated with faces of Apollo. Posen was founded in Frankfurt 1869 by Brendina Wetzlar, widow of Lazarus Jacob Posen, a silversmith of Polish descent. Under Brendina's stewardship, the firm became the largest supplier of Judaica in the late 19th century. Total weight: 66.6 grams (2.14 troy oz). Dimensions are: 7 1/8" long.
