Each backsplat is decorated with a bat suspending a chime flanked by two qilin, the seat is decorated with a shou roundel surrounded but lotus scrolls and two further qilin, the sides of the seat, the arms, and the aprons are all similarly decorated, all on a mustard lacquer ground. The reverse of each chair is decorated with a bird, and each base bears an apocryphal Qianlong mark.
