A PAIR OF MIXED WOOD DISPLAY CABINETS WITH CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL BRONZE FITTINGS, China, Qing dynasty. The upper portion of the cabinets with tiered shelves of varying height, shape and size, framed by openwork borders depicting grapes and leaves, the black-lacquered back panel gilt-painted with figures and pavilions in landscapes, each with a small compartment on the side enclosed by a pair of openwork hinged doors with cloisonné-enamel locks, the interior painted with scattered fruit and flower sprays, beside a central drawer and above a further pair of larger drawers with cloisonné handles, carved with floral scrolls, the lower portion of the cabinets with pair of hinged doors carved in relief with plum blossoms, all above a shaped apron. - Cf. with similar, though less densely decorated display cabinets sold at auctions: a singular cabinet at Sotheby's Paris, 9 June 2011, lot 156, and another pair at Christie's HK, 29 May 2007, lot 1398. - Property from a Dutch private collection, acquired prior to 1990 - Part. rest.
