明高濂在《遵生八笺·燕闲清赏》中就论道：“玉以黄玉为上，羊脂次之……每年春秋两季贡玉中，良者万里不择其一。”而明清士大夫玩玉、赏玉，以黄玉为贵。及至清代，黄色由皇家独尊，皇家对于黄玉的推崇将黄玉的地位推向了一个了巅峰阶段。如今黄玉产地有新疆和田、青海等地，而新疆和田所产黄玉籽料则少之又少，其价值极为珍罕，受到市场热捧。此件“马上封侯”则由新疆和田黄玉籽料雕就，马尾部分的聚红皮雕琢为灵猴，另面则保留了洒金皮色，毛孔自然。玉质部分则较为油润，颜色既不偏绿也不泛灰，立体雕琢为卧马，作回首状，具马上封侯之吉祥意。附和田黄玉原料 40.9 克
