Description: A fluted vase showing wisteria blossoms. The flowers of this tree, kushakufuji, can reach lengths of up to 200 cm; in Japan, they are also known as Fujinami, or ‘Fuji waves’. On this vase, they are arranged in fields of different colors, silver-green, white and violet. The granular background is silver; this characteristic, glass-like technique is known as tsuiki-shippo. The mark of this Nagoya master is found on the base. Condition: Good condition, very minor faults Provenance: From an Austrian private collection This fine selection of Japanese cloisonné pieces (nos. 16-33) comes from an art dealer’s collection who acquired the pieces over 15 years, most of them from Austrian flea markets, fairs and estates. He developed a passion and deep understanding for the incredibly cumbersome technique of cloisonné which is reflected in the selection, featuring the great names of Namikawa Yasuyuki and Namikawa Sosuke.
