|此件小砚屏屏芯采用上等和田白玉雕，玉质致密坚韧、细腻、滋润光洁，选料极精。整体为长方形，减地镂雕锦地纹，排列有序，纹饰吸收了伊斯兰密文的特征，充满异域风情，极为少见。锦地纹上高浮雕狮子，口衔绣球，作奔跑嬉戏状，狮子毛发、关节、肌肉、铃铛配饰均雕刻精细，绣球随风飘舞，生动自然。整体走刀准确，镂空、减地、打磨、抛光无一不精，属于标准高档玉雕作品，是一件工艺绝佳的案头陈设玉器。狮子于西汉时自西域传入，被视为祥瑞之兽。狮子戏球为瑞兆，民间喜庆隆重会典，常有耍狮之戏，以示吉庆祥瑞。
