重958g完美八出菱花形，圆钮，镜背饰波涛起伏的大海。镜钮上部，天空中祥云流动，一轮圆月浮于其上，月宫隐现。钮下一牛立在水中的小洲之上，回首望月。镜缘处饰一周对称波浪纹。此镜纹饰粗犷而不粗糙，气势磅礴，少见。美品。吴牛喘月的典故源于《世说新语》：大臣满奋怕风，与晋武帝对坐时担心遮挡北窗的琉璃屏风不严实，惹得武帝笑话，他于是自我解嘲说：“我怕风就像吴地怕热的水牛，见到月亮以为是太阳，对着月亮喘粗气”。
