本品摆件表现仙鹤站立于海水崖石之上，仙鹤曲颈低头，灵龟昂首攀爬，相互顾盼，灵动精巧，姿态栩栩如生，浪涛之中，苍龙一身三现，鳞甲分明，大有气夺千里之势，亦见本品不凡的品级，可寓“龟鹤延年”、“龟龄鹤寿”之意。
《淮南子》云：“鹤寿千年，以极其游。”唐代诗人王建在《闲说》中也有“桃花百叶不成春，鹤寿千年也未神”的诗句。因此，人们常把鹤与龟一同视为长寿之王，鹤龄、鹤寿、龟鹤延年都是民间祝寿时常用的吉祥贺词。
