ALLEGORIES "THE DAY" AND "THE NIGHT". Meissen. Date: Before 1924. Maker/Designer: Model H. Schwabe. Technique: Porcelain, enriched in colors and gold. Description: Above an octagonal pedestal a putto as the allegory of the day, floating, holding a flower in his left hand and a torch in his right. On the pedestal a large sunflower with a titmouse, flapping its wings. As its counterpart, a putto as an allegory of the night, wrapped in a veil held by a crown of stars. He is holding poppy pods in his right hand. An owl on a tree stump is sitting at his feet. Measurement: Height 52cm/ 52,5cm.
