Bronze and Iron Japan, 1868-1912 (Meiji Period) Dimensions: 8 x 7.4 cm (iron tsuba) and 8.5 x 8 cm (bronze tsuba) Weight: 136 g (iron tsuba) and 169 g (bronze tsuba) Set of two sword guards consisting of one iron naga-maru-gata tsuba, worked on both sides in takazogan with crashing waves. The second, a silvered bronze otafuku-gata tsuba, worked in takazogan to depict a dragon wrapped around both sides. Provenance: - German private collection. Condition: - Very good condition with minor wear and traces of age and use.
