张謇（1853-1926），字季直，号啬庵。江苏南通人，祖籍江苏常熟土竹山。光绪二十年（1894）状元，中国近代实业家、教育家、书法家，“江苏五才子”之一。光绪三十一年（1905）创建了南通博物苑。张謇是中国棉纺织领域早期的开拓者，主张“实业救国”“父教育，母实业”。张謇在书法上刻苦用功，至老而不衰。他早年通过院体、阁帖而进入书法门径，打下了非常扎实的基础，也奠定了他书法的欧、褚笔意和法度。
