Signed on the nakago, "Honshu Takada ju Fujiwara" ; blade with toranba hamon, itame hada, two piece silvered copper habaki, nakago with three holes; ray skin tsuka with gilt menuki, cloud motif to fuchi and kashira, iron tsuba with silver beast and gilt 'rope'.

Provenance: Private collection, Connecticut.
Condition: Blade in good condition with light spotting; lacquer saya worn and damaged, missing koiguchi; leather wrap with abrasions; repair to tsuka-ito; iron pitting to tsuba.
Dimensions of blade: Length: 27 7/8 in.; Length: 70.8 cm.
As there were several Fujiwara sword makers in Honshu and this particular blade lacks a first name, we are not able to definitively establish the maker.
