A Japanese Gunto katana
Edo period
Katana blade signed on the nakago, "Omura han Hayashi Shigehide" and "5th year of Kaei era, autumn" (1848-1854); blade with notare hamon, masame hada, silvered habaki, single hole to nakago; ray skin tsuka with gilt cherry blossom menuki, cherry blossom fuchi, kashira and bronze tsuba; metal saya with matching cherry blossoms to koiguchi and kojiri.

Condition: Locking catch broken. Blade a bit over cleaned and has a few small edge nicks. Saya with finish loss, area of surface corrosion.
