觚初为商周青铜礼器，其基本形制为敞口、长身、束腹，阔足，造型秀美。后世流行以各种材质仿制，可作花器，亦为文房陈设用器，置于案头，颇为古雅。
本品呈四方形，胎体厚重，规格巨硕，仿商周青铜出戟方觚所制，四出城垛形扉棱，似将军之戟附其上，庄严瞩目。器分三段，口部、足部饰蕉叶纹，腹部上下收束，以云雷纹为地，饰仿古饕餮纹，蕉叶纹与兽面纹是商代铜器典型纹饰，尽显古朴之气。
全器皮壳自然老道，浓郁泛绿，铸造精细，繁简得当，在继承商周礼器原有形式特点之上，创新出别具本朝特色的艺术形式，既存古雅之韵，又具鲜明的时代风格，回味无穷，是为不可多得的珍贵藏品。
