熏炉为铜铸，高士骑跨于驴背之上，侧身平视，泰然自若。头戴高帽，长须垂胸，慈眉善目，略微含笑。着如意领长袍，衣褶简练流畅。驴儿身膘体健，双耳俏立，圆目炯炯，鬃毛利落，长尾飘逸，作底首觅食状，形神兼备，逸趣横生。
此件铜熏表现的主题，猜想或为“踏雪寻梅”之孟浩然，典故出自张岱《夜航船》曰：“吾诗思在灞桥风雪中驴背上”，后以亦形容文人雅士赏爱风景苦心作诗的情致。
