此件水注为锡制，做鸭形。宝鸭扁喙微张，脖颈细长，柔美委婉，身形圆润丰腴；双掌健硕，卧地平稳；双翅贴身，尾巴上翘，头及腿部刻画深入，羽翼、尾部以寥寥数刀表现，显憨态可掬之相，水注上部置盖，作背负状。内部注水后倾倒，即可通过小孔，经脖颈由鸭口吐出。整体塑造简繁有度，颇有艺术气息。
历来鸭形陈设实用器物为文人所喜之品，或因“鸭”字中有“甲”字，且与科甲的“甲”字谐音，故有“一甲一名”之称。
