Chinese Lapis Lazuli rectangular table screen with inlaid semi-precious hardstones upon hardwood frame. Semi-precious stones include carnelian, agate, lapis-lazuli, jadeite, amber, and turquoise. Depicted is a vase burgeoning with an abundance of flowers, jade elephant, Fu-dog with pearl, prayer bead, and Lingzhi fungus. An eloquent inscription is placed in the top right corner beneath a cloud formation. The Elephant is the last of the four Animals of Supremacy and Energy. It represents strength, sagacity, and carefulness. The dog is a symbol of future prosperity. Lingzhi is known as the fungus of immortality, considered by the Daoist mystics as the nourishment of the Immortals (Xian). The fungus is also a symbol of longevity, since, when dry, it becomes tremendously long long-lasting. It is used broadly in Chinese remedy. It was believed that Lingzhi funguses grew in the dwellings of the Immortals and that whoever consumed the hallowed fungus achieved immortality. Lapis Lazuli slab is vibrant in color and has a breathtaking aura, as it easily becomes the focal point of any setting. Dimensions: 15-1/2" H x 9-3/8" W
