A large moon flask vase. Its shape means embracing the moon and consists of a circular flattened body signifying the moon, a flat base, tubular neck and two applied handles which arch gracefully, descend on either side to create an embrace between neck and body and terminate into a pair of ruyi. This stoutly potted vase is vibrantly painted in cobalt against a white ground. Dragon handles drape from mid-neck to mid-shoulders. A tall standing band of plantain leaves winds around the neck. The shoulder features a ruyi collar. The body design is identical on each side with a large flat roundel featuring vigorous dragon amidst fumes and clouds borne upon wavy lishui water. Both rim and foot bear diapers of cresting waves. Mark on under base, a six under glazed blue seal script characters reign mark, QianLong Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty. Dimensions: 20"H x 15.25"W
