Chinese Ming Dynasty square porcelain zhadou vase. Sturdily potted in a squared body, steep sides supporting the flared rim further to the wide opening, raised on splayed foot base. The rim and foot banded with stripe motif. The body decorated in subtle turquoise-green background depicted phoenix borne amidst dense of flower foliate. All served in brownish-red over green underglazed color.The porcelain conformed all required specimen to be high valued Chinese porcelain wares, with finest material, the whiteness, the glaze, the carving, and the shape. The Ming porcelain Zhadou rests atop a silk covered platform, with a glass cuboid case. Mark on base, a vertical six underglazed brownish-red script -KaiShu- characters reign mark, JiaJing Reign Period of Great Ming. Dimensions: 2-1/2" H x 5-1/8" WStand: 1-1/4" H PROVENANCE: New York Private collector.
