Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, Qianlong red dragon porcelain thumb ring. The porcelain potted in cylindrical ring shape, slighty short round body, with center opening on the center body from upper toward the foot base. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in famille jaune under glazed base color which contrast against the ruby red fine color. Famille Jaune meaning the "yellow family". This is a variant of the famille verte enamel palette in which the ground is covered with yellow enamel. The exterior decorated with snarling huge imperial five claws dragon careening through cumulus clouds above thrashing Li-shui waves in a yellow color dragon squama to chasing flaming pearl amidst flames and vapors. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Li-shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned.
