A 20th Century Japanese Navy gunto/ military issue officer's sword, the blade with minor dings at the edge, with brushed brass blade collar & spacers, the tsuba / handguard thick semi-ovid brass/ bronze, characteristic naval cherry blossom ornamentation seen: here, in the hilt collar, the menuki (beneath the silk wrapping), on the pommel guard, the guard of the scabbard tip, the scabbard hanging attachment, & the scabbard collar, the scabbard of textured metal [with few dents] L: 26 3/4" (68cm) [ From tip to handguard ] L: 38 7/8" (98.7cm) [Full length] Condition: as noted Note: Tenmoku auctions is not equipped to undress the sword from its wrappings. As it is military issue, a signature on the tang is unlikely.
