HK 佛珠在現代社會幾乎成為宗教信徒禮佛之物，現代社會人們通常認為手持佛珠，口念經文，可以消除一切業障。但是在明清兩代，非剃度出家的佛教徒禁用108粒佛珠禮佛，只允許捐贈給寺廟，附上個人信息，用敬佛之用。這種敬佛用過的佛珠，通常被寺廟奉為至寶，在民國時期由於戰亂大量流入民間。此物由洛杉磯白人藏家1982年購於香港。
