Of standard form, with inrobuta (flush-fitting lid), finished in black roiro lacquer almost entirely covered by a kikkomon (hexagonal 'tortoiseshell' pattern) in gold hiramaki-e lacquer, each hexagon decorated either in gold hiramaki-e or hirame overlaid with a gold floral motif in gold hiramaki-e, the lid and part of one side with a koto and folded kimono in similar techniques, the interior and base fine gold nashiji; with a wood storage box. 10.9cm x 18cm x 12.7cm (4¼in x 7 1/8in x 5in).
